Settlement Reached Against Seasoning Packet Supplier

Shearer's Foods, a major distributor of chips and other snack foods, sustained roughly $500,000 in damages after they incorporated seasoning packets contaminated with salmonella provided by their supplier, Valley Milk Products. Though liability was not contested, the defense contended that the actual damages were valued at much less. Brian Tetro, a Partner in the Subrogation Department and member of the Food and Beverage Group, secured a low six-figure settlement on the eve of the trial date related to the contamination.
