This episode focuses on the labyrinth of extremely complex laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, and each of their state law counterparts, which employers must navigate. This podcast will shed light on the many requirements of those laws, explain how they intersect and the many risks that each law and its interaction with other laws present to employers. 

Best Practices for Employers In An Unsettled DEI Climate

This episode of The Employment Law Counselor podcast, in collaboration with the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), dives into recent executive orders which end Federal DEI programs and, among other things, encourage private sector employees to end “illegal DEI” programs. Victoria Fuller, Partner and Co-Chair of Labor and Employment Practice Group, and Laura Corvo, Counsel, are joined by Marlena Ellis, Associate, to discuss the implications of those executive orders on employers and offer some best practices employers should implement promptly to manage legal risks while still attracting and retaining high quality employees.

About Victoria Fuller

Victoria Fuller is a Partner and Co-Chair of the Labor and Employment Practice at White and Williams and works out of the Firm’s Boston office. Victoria has almost two decades of experience as an employment lawyer. She regularly represents small to mid-size businesses, educational institutions, and non-profits in Massachusetts and New Hampshire state and Federal Courts, as well as in the EEOC and state agencies. In addition to defending employers, Victoria also counsels clients on all aspects of the employment relationship, such as hiring and termination, requests for accommodation, protected leave, and wage and hour issues. Victoria Fuller has been recognized as a Go-To Higher Education Lawyer by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.

About Laura Corvo

Laura Corvo, Counsel in the Firm’s New Jersey and New York offices, regularly represents employers in employment litigation and advises clients on a variety of employment-related issues. She has extensive knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and regularly counsels employers on a host of personnel and human resource issues including the management of AI in the workplace, employee hiring, discipline and termination matters, reductions in force, wage and hour compliance, family and medical leave compliance, and managing accommodations for disabled employees.
