Brendaliz Minaya Ruiz

Brendaliz Minaya Ruiz is an associate in the Insurance Coverage and Bad Faith practice group at White and Williams LLP.

She handles complex insurance coverage litigation and provides coverage advice to insurers on claims arising from mass-tort litigation, individual lawsuits, and pre-litigation demands. She has advised clients on a wide range of matters, including opioids and other pharmaceutical products, baby food products, acetaminophen, construction defects, benzene-containing products, catastrophic injuries, product recall, professional negligence, and cyber breach liability. 

Brendaliz protects the interests of her clients by analyzing and litigating insurance coverage issues, including trigger of coverage, application of policy exclusions, notice, duty to defend, priority of coverage, and allocation of coverage. She works with clients on claims arising under various policies, including commercial general liability, cyber, errors and omissions, employers liability, and product recall policies. When litigation ensues, Brendaliz uses her substantial experience in handling all aspects of litigation, including depositions, motions, oral arguments, and trial preparation on complex civil litigation matters in state and federal courts. She works closely with clients to develop effective, efficient litigation strategies to best meet her clients’ needs.

• Succeeded in a motion to dismiss seven figure claim, asserting breach of contract and quasi-contract causes of action and seeking coverage under a professional liability policy.
• Prevailed in summary judgment in a declaratory judgment action stemming from an injury at a construction site based on the application of numerous exclusions under a commercial general liability policy, including the independent contractors exclusion and the condominium exclusion.
