Subrogation Department Resolves Large Water Loss Case

William (Bill) Schmidt, a partner in the firm’s Subrogation Department, recently resolved two post-construction, water loss incidents involving the same property. The water losses occurred as the result of plumbing leaks. Specifically, a copper plumbing line connection separated and caused water to flow into the building. A month later, a similar loss occurred at another plumbing connection. The initial installation of the line was done several years prior to the losses and was found to be improperly pressed. The negligently installed lines eventually became loose over time, resulting in the two water losses. Bill, assisted by Lian Skaf and Bill Doerler, aggressively pursued a pre-suit resolution of this matter against the plumbing subcontractor at the construction site and was able to resolve both claims with a settlement in the high six figures.
