Gary Biehn Participates In Inaugural WTCGP "India & South Asia Club" Meeting

World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia (Philadelphia, PA)
2.14.20

On February 5, 2020, the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia (“WTCGP”) held its inaugural meeting of the India & South East Asia Club (“ISEA”). Gary Biehn, partner and Chair of the White and Williams International Group and Chair of the WTCGP, attended the meeting along with participating WTCGP Member Companies and other distinguished guests.

The panel discussed India’s “business-friendly” environment for U.S. businesses and India’s highly educated workforce, noting, however, that challenges remain, such as bureaucratic “red tape” and a less than robust infrastructure and communications network, particularly in the rural regions. The panel encouraged businesses to consider entering the market with the assistance of a local partner. Many of the Member Companies are exploring India as part of an alternative or supplemental supply chain strategy, particularly in view of the current challenges in China. In this regard, several of the guests and members emphasized the significant progress that India has made in intellectual property right protection, a distinct advantage over the challenges found in China.

In addition to Gary, other guests and meeting participants included: Shreeram (Ram) Mudambi, Professor at Temple University’s Fox School of Business; Shyamal Choudhury, CEO of Data-Core Systems; Subodha Kumar, Professor at the Center for Data Analytics – MCSM at Temple University; Adam Ziegfeld, Assistant Professor at Temple University; and Linda Conlin, President of the WTCGP.
