9.4.18

Mike Kassak, Intellectual Property Group Co-Chair and Josh Mooney, Cyber Law and Data Protection Group Co-Chair, have been appointed Vice-Chairs of the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS). Their one-year terms as Vice-Chair began at the conclusion of the 2018 Annual Meeting in August and extend through the 2018-19 bar year.

Launched in 2017, the Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Committee confronts issues facing TIPS members and their clients through active programming, informational resources and discussion groups. The committee is an extension of the previously established Cybersecurity Task Force, which examines and addresses the myriad and rapidly developing issues concerning cybersecurity and data privacy. TIPS has more than 30 committees that focus on substantive and procedural matters in specific areas of practice and provide members with opportunities to interact with, write for and learn from their peers.

Mike Kassak has more than 25 years of experience litigating complex commercial matters, including cutting edge insurance coverage disputes. He routinely represents insurers as lead counsel in high profile matters involving a range of claims, including privacy.

Josh Mooney advises corporate clients on matters involving cyber risk, data protection and privacy. He assists clients with risk assessments and the development and implementation of cyber policies and programs toward preserving confidentiality, integrity and availability of data. Josh also assists clients in cybersecurity compliance and guides them in investigations and responses to cybersecurity incidents, including data breaches.
