Charles Eppolito Named Chair of Pennsylvania Bar Association Commission to Evaluate Candidates for Appellate Courts

Partner Charles (Chuck) Eppolito, III has been named Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association (PBA) Judicial Evaluation Commission (JEC). The JEC evaluates the qualifications of candidates seeking to fill vacancies and seeking to be retained on Pennsylvania’s appellate courts – the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Superior Court of Pennsylvania and Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania. The JEC strives to provide the voting public with an objective evaluation of candidates in its recommendations by remaining nonpartisan and impartial. The JEC's procedures include reviewing reports of investigative panels commissioned specifically for each candidate, interviewing each candidate, discussing qualifications and reaching an agreement and issuing a rating for each candidate. Chuck was recently the JEC’s Vice Chair and previously served as a JEC investigative panel member.

Chuck has a long history of involvement with the 25,000-member Pennsylvania Bar Association, serving as PBA Secretary from 2007 to 2010, Chair of the House of Delegates from 2011 to 2013 and President from 2018 to 2019, among other positions held. Chuck is a recipient of multiple PBA “President’s Awards.”

Among his many initiatives as PBA President, Eppolito called for the creation of the PBA Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Committee to analyze cybersecurity issues and educate members about legal, regulatory and industry standards that preserve the confidentiality of protected information.

Chuck is a trial lawyer whose practice consists primarily of the defense of healthcare providers. He also defends matters involving negligence, electrical engineering and product liability issues in utilities cases. He represents insurance companies/carriers, including primary, excess and reinsurance, throughout the nation. He has tried many medical malpractice cases to verdict in jury trials and has arbitrated others to successful resolution.
