White and Williams Lawyers and Staff Recognized for Pro Bono Efforts

12.5.16

White and Williams has a long, proud history of providing pro bono service and those efforts were recently recognized by two non-profit organizations.

The Homeless Advocacy Project, which provides legal services to homeless individuals and families in the Philadelphia area, handed out several awards at their annual Volunteer Awards Luncheon. Secretary Tricia Meissner, Associate Mark Paladino and Partner William Schmidt received the "Legal Services Recognition Award" and Partner Wes Payne received the "Super Star Adopt Coordinator Award." The firm, which holds bi-monthly legal clinics at My Brothers' Place, received the "Law Firm Recognition Award," and Ken Gibb, Executive Director of White and Williams and HAP Treasurer was honored with the inaugural "Board Lifetime Service Award."

Associate Kevin Koscil was named December Volunteer of the Month by Philadelphia VIP, which provides legal services for low-income residents and families facing civil legal problems that threaten their basic human needs – shelter, employment, financial stability, education and health. Kevin has been working with VIP since 2009. His most recent case involved a small business owner dealing with tax issues that threatened to shutter his business. Kevin was able to work with the IRS on the client's behalf.
