White and Williams Grows Boston Office

Seasoned Insurance Lawyers Add to the Depth and Strength of Firm’s Capabilities

September 18, 2013

White and Williams LLP, a long-time leader in serving the legal needs of the insurance industry, is growing its Boston office with the addition of two seasoned lawyers in the Insurance Coverage, Bad Faith and Extra-Contractual Liability, Commercial Litigation and Product Liability areas.

Craig Stewart and Eric Hermanson come to the firm from Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP. Stewart will co-chair the firm’s Bad Faith and Extra-Contractual Liability Group. “We have been eager to grow our Boston office with lawyers who have both the right capabilities and the right chemistry with our firm and its clients. Both Craig and Eric have hit the ground running and we are pleased to have them in our Boston office,” said Guy Cellucci, Chair of the firm.

Stewart has over twenty-five years of jury and jury-waived trial experience in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation as well as in a wide variety of products liability and complex commercial matters. He has successfully defended professional and specialty lines liability carriers against claims of bad faith claims handling, denial of coverage and failure to settle brought by policyholders claiming millions of dollars in actual and punitive damages. “White and Williams is an excellent firm and a  good fit for us,” said Stewart. “We serve many of the same clients, and the firm’s national reputation in products liability defense and complex coverage litigation complements our focus on bad faith defense and counseling, and the defense of life science claims,” Stewart added.

Hermanson has over twenty years’ experience representing sophisticated institutional defendants in a broad range of complex commercial, tort and product liability disputes. A significant portion of his practice is devoted to the representation of insurance carriers - both primary and excess - in high-exposure coverage matters and lawsuits alleging extra-contractual liability.

“Craig and Eric bring experience which enhances the firm's depth, reach and capabilities in handling our clients' needs locally, regionally and nationally,” said Patti Santelle, Chair of the Commercial Litigation Department.
