The City of Philadelphia conducted another county-wide reassessment for tax year 2019, and many property owners were unhappy with their new assessed values. Associate James Vandermark will serve on a panel examining the laws that govern real estate tax assessments and assessment appeals for Philadelphia County, which are comprised of three different state statutes, local ordinances, and city agency regulations. The program will also provide an overview of the differences between the Philadelphia statutes and those in the rest of the Commonwealth, including the recent history of real estate tax assessments in Philadelphia highlighting how assessment practices and procedures have drastically changed from 2012 through today.
