Nancy Conrad, Chair of the Labor and Employment group, will moderate the panel "Pretrial Procedures" at the 2019 Federal Practice Institute on Friday, October 25, 2019 presented by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Nancy's panel will offer attendees the opportunity to hear U.S. District Judges Cathy Bissoon and Matthew Brann discuss federal court scheduling, electronic discovery, pretrial orders, motions in limine and jury selection.

Judge Bissoon was appointed by Former President Barack Obama as a U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Pennsylvania on October 20, 2011. She is the first Hispanic female Article III judge in Pennsylvania, the first Asian American Article III judge in Pennsylvania and the first South Asian American female Article III judge in the United States.

Judge Brann was also appointed by Former President Obama on May 17, 2012 as a U.S. District Judge for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Previously, Judge Brann was in private practice as a partner at Brann, Williams, Caldwell, & Sheetz.

The Federal Practice Institute provides all the tools attorneys need to succeed in federal court. A total of nine Federal Judges from both the Western and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania will speak directly to attendees using hypothetical cases, advice from the bench and much more.
