The Impact of the 2018-19 Term of the US Supreme Court

Labor and Employment Partner Nancy Conrad will speak on the panel "The Impact of the 2018-19 Term of the Supreme Court of the United States on Federal Practice and a Preview of the Top Cases for 2019-20." The panel, moderated by Senior Judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and Chair of the PBA Federal Practice Committee Hon. D. Michael Fisher, will discuss some of the most interesting decisions issued by the U.S. Supreme Court during the past term and also look ahead at the upcoming issues facing the court in 2020. Nancy will be joined on the panel by a number of U.S. District Court and U.S. Court of Appeals judges, including:

  • Hon. D. Brooks Smith, Chief Judge, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit;
  • Hon. Juan R. Sánchez, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of PA;
  • Hon. Christopher C. Conner, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of PA; and
  • Hon. Mark R. Hornak, Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the Western District of PA.

Additional panelists include Riley H. Ross of Ross Legal Practice LLC and Kathryn Lease Simpson of Mette, Evans and Woodside.

The PBA's Midyear Meeting, held annually, offers numerous education sessions from leaders of the state bar and bench. This year's meeting will be held from January 29 through February 2 at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in Nassau, the Bahamas.
