Matthew Prutting is an associate in White and Williams’ Commercial Litigation practice group. Matthew litigates matters involving fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty, regulatory investigations and corporate and securities claims. Matthew also has experience negotiating agreements resolving corporate disputes involving proprietary information, non-compete and non-solicitation agreements and self-dealing allegations. He represents individual and institutional clients appearing before state and federal courts, as well as administrative and regulatory agencies. 

Matthew is a graduate of Fordham University and the Georgetown University Law Center. During law school, Matthew worked for the D.C. Law Students in Court legal clinic, which provides pro bono legal services in eviction proceedings, landlord and tenant disputes and small claims cases. Prior to joining White and Williams, Matthew worked at both international and boutique law firms in New York, where he focused his practice on complex, multi-party litigation.

Representative Matters

  • Represented five individual and twenty-seven pension plan defendants in multi-district litigation in the Southern District of New York involving federal securities fraud claims arising out of purported $2 billion international tax refund scheme
  • Successful appeal in the New York State Appellate Division, First Department reversing decision governing insurability of $260 million disgorgement payment to SEC
