For eighteen years Luke has litigated large, complex commercial and personal injury matters in state and federal courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey on behalf of insurance companies and utilities. Luke has successfully defended clients in cases involving CGL insurance coverage disputes related to several underlying matters, including concussions, molestation, and vaping claims.  Luke also has significant experience litigating premises liability, bad faith and extra-contractual damages claims, and life, health and disability insurance matters. 

Luke brings a strong attention to detail to his practice, vigorously defending the interests of his clients through a thorough understanding of the relevant facts and related circumstances.

Representative Matters

  • Secured a dismissal, on appeal, on behalf of Horizon Healthcare Services, Inc. against claims that its Omnia healthcare plan violated the New Jersey state Healthcare Quality Act and that the state’s opioid crises required the court to create a private right of action
  • Represents insurers in claims for coverage by universities and sports leagues/entities related to allegations of sexual abuse of participants over multiple decades

  • Represents insurers in claims for coverage by manufacturers, distributors and retailers related to underlying vaping lawsuits

  • Represents several insurance carriers in claims for coverage by professional sports leagues for concussions and related injuries suffered by participants over multiple decades

  • Represents a health insurance company in litigation involving disputes with providers over fair and reasonable reimbursement rates for services under applicable statutes, regulations and plan terms

  • Represented a national insurance company, defending against bad faith claims handling in the disability insurance context, including defending against broad-based non-claim specific discovery
  • Represented a utility company, defending claims of negligence related to contractor injuries at worksites and power plants
  • Represented a utility company, defending negligence claims related to contractor accidents
  • Represented insurance companies in litigation involving claims of misconduct by agents and brokers
  • Represented insurers defending claims of breach of health and disability contracts, involving misrepresentation in the claim and/or policy application
  • Represented disability insurers in claims involving own-occupation disability insurance claims

Luke heads the firm's Associates' Litigation Training Program.

Luke is a volunteer attorney for the Homeless Advocacy Project, representing homeless individuals in the City of Philadelphia who are seeking Social Security benefits. He has also volunteered for numerous civic and non-profit organizations, including Unite America, Concord Coalition and
