Katrina Gibson has a wide range of litigation experience in numerous areas of practice with a primary focus on insurance coverage and litigation. Katrina provides assistance as coverage counsel to national insurance carriers with regard to commercial property policies and casualty policies, including CGL, employer's liability, E&O, D&O and various specialty coverages. A significant portion of Katrina’s practice is devoted to complex insurance coverage issues, such as those that arise from long-tail losses, mass tort claims, and other losses that implicate multiple policy periods and coverages.  

As a member of the firm’s Appellate Group, Katrina’s  practice is also devoted to written advocacy, motion practice and appeals, and she has enjoyed repeated success in the defense and disposal of actions through dispositive motions.

Prior to joining White and Williams, Katrina clerked for the Honorable Linda G. Baxter of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. 

While in law school, Katrina was a three-year recipient of the Dean’s Academic Scholarship, received First-Year Honors and was a Dean’s List member. She served as a Notes and Comments Editor and Staff Editor for the Rutgers Law Journal. Additionally, Katrina interned for the Honorable Mary Cooper, United States District Judge and for the Honorable Ann Marie Donio, United States Magistrate Judge.

Representative Matters

  • Assisted in the representation of a national insurance carrier group in the concussion lawsuits commenced against professional sports leagues, such as the NFL, NHL and WWE
  • Assisted in the representation of a national insurance carrier group in class action lawsuits filed by professional football players against the NFL and their former NFL teams for long-term injuries they allegedly sustained due to medications and other purportedly negligent treatment of injuries they sustained while playing football
  • Assisted in the representation of a national insurance carrier in lawsuits by over 100 female athletes against a university for alleged sex abuse by a former employee
  • Assisted in the representation of a national insurance carrier in the pelvic mesh litigation, involving hundreds of lawsuits filed nationwide against a medical device manufacturer of pelvic mesh used to treat various pelvic medical conditions
  • Assisted in representing a large international carrier group in seeking insurance coverage for multi-million dollar claims for bad faith allegations
  • Obtained dismissal by summary judgment of bad faith and breach of contract claims against an insurance carrier involving a reported $200 million+ commercial property loss
  • Regularly assists in the representation of large insurance companies as coverage counsel for losses under commercial property and casualty policies, including claims investigation, drafting comprehensive coverage opinion letters, and drafting reservation of rights letters and coverage determination letters

Recognition & Involvement

Aside from her law practice, Katrina enjoys sports, spending time outside with her rescue dog, an Australian Shepherd, and volunteering with her dog’s rescue organization, New Spirit 4 Aussie Rescue. Katrina is a long-distance runner who has competed in races ranging from 5ks to marathons, including the Boston Marathon.
