Kate Butler is an experienced litigator in the Healthcare group. She focuses her practice primarily on the defense of medical professionals and healthcare providers against allegations of medical and professional negligence. She is dedicated to serving the needs of her clients and pursuing the best possible outcome for each case. As a former criminal prosecutor, Kate uses her trial experience to analyze cases quickly and efficiency.

Prior to joining White and Williams, Kate served as a prosecutor with the Criminal Division of the Delaware Department of Justice. Kate independently managed a complex case load ranging from misdemeanor to felony-level offenses, including proactive prosecutions involving violent gangs and drug distribution. She has tried over a dozen cases before a jury, both independently and as co-counsel.  

As a law student, she interned for Justice Henry DuPont Ridgely of the Delaware Supreme Court prior to his retirement from the bench in 2014. Upon graduation, Kate served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Vivian L. Medinilla of the Superior Court in New Castle County, Delaware. 

Recognition & Involvement

Kate is a member of the Women and the Law Section of the Delaware State Bar Association. She also served on the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law while attending Widener (Delaware) Law School, from which she graduated cum laude.
