James R. Hearon is a litigation associate in the Insurance Coverage and Bad Faith practice group. James focuses his practice on representing clients in a variety of litigation matters, primarily defending insurance companies and other business entities. He is dedicated to serving the needs of his clients through staunch advocacy in order to obtain a favorable outcome.
Prior to joining the firm, James clerked for the Honorable Greta Gooden Brown for the Superior Court of New Jersey Appellate Division, where he handled criminal, civil, family and administrative issues on appeal.
While in law school, James served as a law clerk for Styliades & Jackson, where he primarily worked on insurance defense matters. He also interned for the Honorable Karen M. Williams of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and for the Honorable Stephanie M. Wauters of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Family Division. In addition, he interned at the Federal Public Defender’s Office.
Recognition & Involvement
James was elected Editor-in-Chief of the Rutgers Business Law Review. He also served as a Legal Writing Fellow and Research Assistant to Professor Pamela Jenoff. James further won the award for “Best Brief” in the Hunter Moot Court Appellate Advocacy course and was a certified legal intern for the Rutgers Civil Practice Clinic. Lastly, he volunteered for the Voters’ Rights Pro Bono Project and the Domestic Violence Pro Bono Project.
In his spare time, James volunteers as an attorney coach for the Jackson Memorial Mock Trial team in Jackson, NJ.
