Ciaran Way is an associate in the firm’s commercial litigation department. Ciaran’s practice focuses primarily on complex insurance coverage litigation involving asbestos and long-tail environmental matters, and reinsurance disputes.

Prior to joining White and Williams, Ciaran worked for a general practice law firm representing commercial and individual clients as plaintiffs and defendants. She honed her advocacy skills drafting successful summary judgment motions and appellate briefs, arguing motions and trying cases.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of a seller in a commercial real estate transaction involving a large tract of undeveloped land. The summary judgment ruling confirmed that the agreement of sale had terminated and the seller was entitled to keep the $200,000 in deposits paid by the buyer
  • Second chaired a 6-day jury trial in federal court representing the defendant resort and obtained a defense verdict. The plaintiffs demanded in excess of $1M before trial
  • Obtained dismissal of a civil RICO action for a lending institution
  • Successfully represented a group of property owners of a residential subdivision in a declaratory judgment action against a homeowner’s association. The Commonwealth Court affirmed the trial court’s ruling that the homeowners were not required to pay dues to the association.

Recognition & Involvement

Ciaran currently serves on the firm’s Women’s Initiative Committee. She also regularly volunteers with the PA Senior Law Center and advises senior citizens on a variety of legal issues through the Center’s Helpline.

In law school, Ciaran supervised her law school’s Tax Clinic, and received the Pro Bono Commitment to Community Award for her work with the Tax Clinic.
