NYSE Acquires National Stock Exchange
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), part of Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE:ICE), acquired the National Stock Exchange, Inc. (NSX), now renamed NYSE National, Inc.
The acquisition gives the NYSE Group an additional U.S. exchange license, bringing its total to four. NYSE National will be distinct from NYSE’s three listings exchanges - the NYSE, its blue-chip platform; NYSE MKT, which is geared toward small-cap companies; and the NYSE Arca Equities, an all-electronic exchange of 8,000 securities focusing on exchange-traded products.
NSX was represented by John Eagan, Bill Hussey, Ryan Udell and Ian Doherty.
