William H. Catto has been litigating on behalf of corporations, nonprofit organizations, individuals and insurance companies for over 17 years. His practice has been primarily focused on the defense of construction, product liability, professional liability and general liability matters.
Bill works closely with the client and/or decision maker on each file to develop a plan of action for the best possible resolution. This may be different in each case and can include settlement at the most advantageous point in the case, dispositive motion practice or trial. If the best course of action is trial, Bill’s experience and ability provide his clients with the confidence to take the case to verdict.
Bill has extensive trial and appellant experience in Pennsylvania Federal and State Courts. He has been lead counsel on a large number of matters in each of these Courts representing corporate clients and individuals. In addition to trials, Bill has successfully resolved a significant number of matters through the use of elected and court mandated mediation and arbitration.
Bill has successfully completed the intensive Trial Advocacy Program, Building Trial Skills, conducted by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA).
Bill has spoken to clients, organizations and in-house on various topics including effective litigation, proper deposition procedures and strategies, and appropriate responses to default judgments.

- Represented local care facility regarding the fatality of one of its residents
- Represented maintenance company in a FELA action brought by a locomotive engineer
- Represented a retail store for numerous product liability claims brought by consumers
- Represented a regional amusement company regarding premise liability actions
- Represented a regional amusement company at the local and appellate courts regarding personal jurisdiction in Philadelphia County
- Represented a local school district at trial regarding alleged negligence of school district employees
- Represented steel fabricators for injuries and fatalaties as a result of construction site accidents
- Represented a local site developer regarding injuries acquired on its worksite after hours
- Represented a design company for a fatality at an automotive plant
- Represented an insurance professional regarding alleged negligence in placing coverage
- Represented regional trucking company and its individual owners in an action arising out of a fatality where other parties were seeking to pierce the corporate veil of his client
- Represented a local theater in various actions arising from the alleged negligence of the theater employees
- Represented an insurance company in action to recover defense cost pursuant to a construction contract
- Represented a large developer in numerous construction defect litigation
- Represented premise owners and product manufacturers in the defense of asbestos exposure litigation
- Represented a soil supplier in the defense of a products case brought by a local golf course regarding the performance of the product
Recognition & Involvement
Outside of his law practice, Bill is a member of the Towamencin Youth Association where he serves as Commissioner of a softball division and coaches softball and baseball teams.
