T. Justin Chapman is involved in a wide array of litigation. His practice focuses primarily on the defense of construction companies and product manufacturers and suppliers in personal injury and property damage suits, but he also has experience handling cases involving insurance coverage, construction defect claims, automobile accidents, contractual disputes, premises liability claims, liquor liability claims, workers’ compensation claims and professional liability claims. Justin also advises clients regarding contractual matters, as well as limiting and avoiding liability.
Justin serves as an Arbitrator for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Compulsory Arbitration Program. He also provides pro bono legal services to Philadelphia VIP and the Homeless Advocacy Project.
Representative Matters
- Represented manufacturer of auto body fillers in case where plaintiff alleged he developed silicosis; summary judgment in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas based on lack of evidence to establish causation
- Represented importer of plywood in a case involving allegations of plywood off-gassed formaldehyde rendering a large building unoccupied; summary judgment based on the economic loss doctrine in District Court for the Middle District of PA
- Represented general contractor in a case involving a fall from scaffolding at a large construction site where plaintiff made a multi-million dollar demand; summary judgment based on the statutory employer defense in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas
- Represented insurer for a general contractor in a declaratory action seeking defense and indemnity for significant underlying construction accident matter; summary judgment in Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas
- Represented school district in a case arising out of a significant motor vehicle accident involving a school bus on a bridge; case was tried before a jury in Delaware County Court of Common Pleas; jury returned a complete defense verdict
- Represented hair salon chain in a case involving allegations of second and third degree scalp burns to a minor who also allegedly suffered permanent hair loss; secured favorable settlement in District Court for the Middle District of PA
- Represented construction company in a case involving a truck accident; summary judgment based on collateral estoppel where workers’ compensation judge previously determined plaintiff suffered no injuries as a result of the incident in Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas
