Sean Meluney counsels clients on a variety of litigation related matters. While a significant portion of his practice involves the representation of educational institutions, he also practices in the areas of commercial litigation and financial restructuring.
Sean represents school districts, principals, superintendents, community colleges and universities in a wide range of issues involving complex civil litigation and employment matters. He handles a variety of claims including employment litigation, tenure and promotion considerations, student discipline, student disability accommodations, campus security and Constitutional and civil rights disputes. Sean also has experience in labor and employment, contract negotiation and disputes, commercial real estate concerns, corporate governance, shareholder rights and partnership disputes.
In addition, Sean represents businesses in a broad range of bankruptcy matters including, debtor reorganization/liquidation, creditor claim disputes, executory contract issues, lift stay motions, D&O claims, plan objections, adequate assurance disputes, administrative claims and prosecution/defense of avoidance actions.
Recognition & Involvement
While at Widener, Sean was the co editor-in-chief of the Widener Journal of Law, Economics & Race, He was awarded the Student Service Award and the Journal’s Board Member of the Year Award. He also spent a year as a law clerk to President Judge Vaughn, President Judge of the Delaware Superior Court.
