Paul Piantino has extensive litigation and trial experience, on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, and has achieved publicized success for clients in a broad range of cases, including insurance coverage and bad faith, personal injury, professional malpractice, commercial and products, aviation and marine matters. Several of the verdicts obtained have been published in the New Jersey Law Journal, Verdict Search, Jury Verdict Review and other publications.
Paul has substantial experience handling serious and catastrophic cases on behalf of injured persons in a wide range of areas, including products liability, medical incidents, industrial accidents, premises liability accidents, recreation and vehicular accidents.
Paul has handled numerous marine-related matters including, insurance coverage actions, the defense of suits involving cargo damage, charterer's liability, Jones Act and general maritime personal injury claims, marine pollution claims, wharfinger liability, marinas and boat manufacturers liability, stevedore and terminal operator liability, in-land marine litigation and prosecution of subrogation suits arising out of marine losses. Paul has attended the International Marine Claims Conference in Dublin, Ireland, an invitation-only event, which brings together professionals associated with marine claims, including claims personnel, surveyors, attorneys, underwriters members of the P&I clubs and the International Underwriting Association.
Paul has extensive experience representing a variety of professionals including physicians, nurses and allied healthcare providers in the defense of medical malpractice claims. His background as a state certified Emergency Medical Technician provides him with unique perspective in the handling of medical related litigation. His successful defense of an accountant malpractice claim is a published opinion in the matter of First Indemnity of America Ins. Co. vs. Letters, Meyler & Co., P.C., 326 N.J.Super. 233 (N.J.Super. A.D. 1999).
While in law school, Paul was awarded the distinction of Ranking Scholar. He attended the LL.M. program at Seton Hall University School of Law where he has completed all coursework in his concentration of Health Care Litigation and is currently matriculated to complete his doctoral thesis.

Paul has litigated and tried numerous cases on behalf of domestic and European insurance companies arising out of insurance contract disputes with policyholders, defended clients engaged in the business of aviation, handled numerous marine-related matters, personal injury claims, professional liability and commercial litigation.
- The litigation of claims arising out of attorney and physician professional liability policies
- Marine cargo and P&I coverages
- Liability and casualty policies including environmental, asbestos and other health hazard claims made under commercial general liability policies
- Litigated and tried cases against Fortune 500 companies including Merck, Pfizer, Becton Dickinson and Ford Motor Company
- Represented and defended the fixed base operators of the Atlantic City International Airport and the Teterboro New Jersey Airport
- Handled high profile aircraft disaster cases involving catastrophic bodily injury and/or property damage
- Litigated and tried cases for commercial airlines and a variety of corporations which provide aviation-related services at Newark Liberty International Airport
- Obtained a seven-figure verdict in Bergen County relating to a cervical spine injury at a local shopping mall
- Represented manufacturers of industrial machinery, home appliances and consumer products in the defense of product liability claims
- Prosecuted subrogation suits seeking to recover bodily injury and property damage losses from responsible manufacturers
- Subrogated losses arising out of the Waldorf Astoria New York explosion in 2000 on behalf of the London insurance market
- Represented clients in a variety of sophisticated commercial litigation matters including shareholder disputes, directors and officers liability, construction defects litigation and commercial contract litigation
Recognition & Involvement
In 1997, Paul was honored by Bergen County Legal Services as "Person of The Year" for his pro bono service to the community. He is currently the Vice President of the Woodcliff Lake (NJ) Education Association, a not-for-profit corporation created to provide educational opportunities and programs for children of that district. In 2000, he was certified by the State of New Jersey as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B).
