Lori Kachmar practices exclusively in the area of workers' compensation defense and has more than 27 years of experience in that area. She works closely with insurance carriers, third-party administrators, brokers and employers in, not only defending workers' compensation cases, but in regard to loss prevention, safety, employment, union and other issues which relate to workers' compensation. She litigates workers' compensation matters in all jurisdictions of Pennsylvania, including all appellate jurisdictions.
Lori is an avid believer of leaving no stone unturned when it comes to her cases. This philosophy has allowed Lori to provide the best solution available – be it going to trial or relying on alternative dispute resolution – that best resonates with the client’s overall business strategy.
Lori served as Chair of the Workers' Compensation Practice Group from 1994-2011. She previously practiced in the areas of ERISA/Employee Benefits and Employment/Labor Law. Her background includes union contract negotiations and employee pension plan, medical plan and executive benefit plan preparation. She also has extensive experience in workers’ compensation administration, having previously worked for a large self-insured and self-administered Pennsylvania employer.
Prior to joining White and Williams, Lori worked for seven years as the Workers’ Compensation and Benefits Counsel for Lukens, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates, including Lukens Steel Company. Lukens, Inc. was a large self-insured and self-administered employer for workers’ compensation benefits, with union and non-union subsidiaries.
Lori is a former Board member of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute. She has written numerous articles on a variety of workers' compensation topics and frequently speaks at seminars relating to workers' compensation issues.

Recognition & Involvement
Since 2005, Lori has been selected every year in a survey of her peers as a Pennsylvania "Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics magazine. In 2008, 2009 and 2010, she was also selected for inclusion in the Corporate Counsel Edition of Super Lawyers. She further has been named in 2011 and 2012 as one of the top 50 Women Attorneys in Pennsylvania by Law & Politics magazine.
Lori is a former Board member of Kids Chance, an organization that works to provide scholarships and vocational education to children of Pennsylvania workers who have been killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident.
