Katrina Gibson has a wide range of litigation experience in numerous areas of practice, including employment discrimination, insurance coverage and litigation, professional liability, land use regulation, premises liability, shareholder and partnership disputes, and commercial contract disputes. A significant portion of Katrina’s practice is devoted to written advocacy, legal research, motion practice and appeals. She has been successful in the defense and disposal of actions through dispositive motions, such as motions for summary judgment.
Prior to joining White and Williams, Katrina clerked for the Honorable Linda G. Baxter of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division.
While in law school, Katrina was a three-year recipient of the Dean’s Academic Scholarship, received First-Year Honors and was a Dean’s List member. She served as a Notes and Comments Editor and Staff Editor for the Rutgers Law Journal and received the honor of Best Brief in her First Year Legal Research and Writing course. During her second year, she was selected to participate in the Marshall-Brennan Fellowship program. Additionally, Katrina interned for the Honorable Mary Cooper, United States District Judge and for the Honorable Ann Marie Donio, United States Magistrate Judge. Katrina also worked during her semesters in law school, where she gained valuable experience as a research assistant for Professor Sally Goldfarb and as a law clerk for a medium-sized firm in southern New Jersey.
Representative Matters
- Assisted in the representation of an equity research company in a plaintiff’s case for malicious prosecution, resulting in a favorable multi-million dollar settlement
- Assisted in the representation of American subsidiary of multi-national printing company in chancery action involving former employee’s violations of non-compete and restrictive covenant provisions in employment contract
- Assisted in the representation of regional real estate broker and obtained summary judgment in breach of contract and emotional distress case brought by former independent agent
- Assisted in the representation of American subsidiary of multi-national tooling manufacturer in breach of contract, theft/conversion and NJ RICO claims against former CEO and director alleged to have stolen over $500,000 from company
- Regularly assists in the representation of large insurance companies by drafting comprehensive coverage analysis opinion letters and/or denial of coverage letters
- Regularly assists in the representation of insurance brokers in the defense of professional liability claims
- Obtained dismissal by summary judgment of breach of contract and bad faith claims against large insurance carrier
- Defended condominium association in a shareholder derivative suit by obtaining a dismissal of the action on motion for summary judgment
- Obtained dismissal by summary judgment of all claims by shareholders and directors against a corporation
- Obtained dismissal by summary judgment of all personal injury claims by a tenant against a commercial property owner
Recognition & Involvement
Aside from her law practice, Katrina plays soccer with various sports leagues in Philadelphia and is a long-distance runner. She competes in races ranging from 5ks to marathons, and has completed the Boston Marathon.
