George Morrison has experience in a variety of labor and employment matters.  His practice ranges from proactive counseling to litigation in federal and state courts and administrative agencies.

George counsels employers on compliance with federal, state and local laws concerning individual employment rights, covenants not-to-compete, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, COBRA, personnel policies and labor and employment issues arising from mass layoffs and plant shutdowns.  He also assists employers with general OSHA and Department of Labor inspections and has successfully worked with investigators to minimize employer liability.

George is also a member of the firm’s Education Law Group.  In this role, George advises colleges and universities on issues related to faculty and student procedural due process rights and compliance with the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act.  George has developed and assisted in the implementation of campus wide document retention and litigation hold policies and procedures.  In addition, he counsels colleges and universities on the procedures to obtain H-1B visas for faculty.

While in law school, George was President of the Widener University Moot Court Honor Society. 

Prior to joining White and Williams, he was a judicial clerk to Justice J. Michael Eakin of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and also served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Robert E. Simpson of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania, a distinctive court that has original and appellate jurisdiction over cases involving Pennsylvania state and local government. 

Representative Matters

  • Assisted in obtaining Summary Judgment and dismissal of case for employer in Willis v. Verizon New York, Inc., Case No. 11-cv-5078 (E.D.N.Y. Oct. 5, 2014), a matter involving race and gender discrimination claims under Title VII, § 1981 and § 1985, as well as state law discrimination and breach of contract claims
  • Counseled and represented an environmental consulting company in an action arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act
  • Represented a heat transfer fluids manufacturer in an action alleging breach of an employment contract
  • Assisted in obtaining dismissal on behalf of multiple university clients of claims asserted under 42 U.S.C. § 1983
  • Enforced national food distributor’s rights under non-compete and non-solicitation agreements and the Pennsylvania Uniform Trade Secrets Act against a former employee
  • Assisted in obtaining a dismissal on behalf of a university client of an action arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, and the Civil Rights Act
  • Negotiated on behalf of a motor manufacturer for the reclassification of citations and reduction of proposed penalties imposed by OSHA
  • Counseled and represented a real estate developer before the United States Department of Labor regarding independent contractors’ employment status 
  • Board, committee and governance counsel to non-profit organizations 

Recognition & Involvement

From 2012-2015, George was selected in a survey of his peers as a Pennsylvania "Rising Star" by Law & Politics Magazine. 

He has a finance background and is a private pilot. 

George is also a Board Member of the Saucon Valley Rotary Club and Congress of Political Economists and a Committee Member of the Lehigh Valley Flying Club.
