Ed Beitz focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense. He defends doctors, nurses, physicians assistants and hospitals at the trial and appellate levels, as well as general liability matters.
Ed gained valuable courtroom experience early in his career by sitting second-chair, defending medical malpractice trials involving complex issues of the human anatomy, such as cardiac surgery, obstetrical complications and vascular injury. He has also tried multiple cases to defense verdicts before arbitration panels in Philadelphia County. Ed’s practice has involved a wide range of other medical specialties, including neurosurgery, bariatric surgery, orthopedics, pain management and emergency medicine.
Ed had authored briefs on appellate issues in healthcare and general liability to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He has also written and developed articles and presentations on emerging issues in medical malpractice, such as the increased relevance of electronic medical records in the context of civil litigation.
While in law school Ed served as the Lead Articles Editor on the Rutgers Journal of Law and Religion. He also participated in Rutgers' Hunter Moot Court Tournament, where he placed as a finalist and was appointed to the National Moot Court Team.
Upon graduation, Ed served as law clerk to the Honorable Judge Francine I. Axelrad of the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey.
