Forming good queries

Use the guideline below when forming your search queries.

  • Do not use operators such as = & AND NOT etc.

  • "Noise words" (a, this, and, that, of, etc.) must be in a quoted phrase. For example, the query search and seizure will return an error. Either use search seizure or "search and seizure".

  • Keywords must be separated by spaces. Do not use commas or semicolons.

  • Search will return only documents that contain all of the listed keywords or the exact phrase in quotes.

  • You may mix keywords and quoted phrases in the same query. For example, "search and seizure" trespass
