GIRL SCOUTS HONOR WHITE AND WILLIAMS ATTORNEY FOR PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL LEADERSHIPNancy Conrad Named 2009 Take the Lead HonoreeMarch 25, 2009 Philadelphia Nancy Conrad, a partner in White and Williams' Commercial Litigation Department and Chair of the Labor and Employment and Education Practice Groups, will be recognized at the 11th annual Take the Lead event hosted by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania. Each year, the Girl Scouts honor women whose professional and personal accomplishments exemplify the organization's mission of building girls who lead with courage, confidence and character to make the world a better place. Ms. Conrad has been, and continues to be, a leader in the legal community. Professionally, she practices in the area of employment law and litigation. In addition to representing management in all areas of employment relations, Ms. Conrad's practice includes the defense of federal and state discrimination claims, wrongful discharge, contract and injunction proceedings. She also represents colleges, universities and schools in employment and education law matters related to faculty, staff and students. Additionally, she serves on the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Commission for Women in the Profession, the Lehigh County Law Day Committee, the Steering Committee for the Women of the Bar Association of Lehigh County, and is a member and vice chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Federal Practice Committee. In addition to her professional leadership roles, Ms. Conrad is active in serving the community at-large. She is a member of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management and a member of the Executive Women's Council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce. Her most rewarding involvement in the community lies close to her heart. As a breast cancer survivor herself, Ms. Conrad serves as vice president of the Board of Directors of the Lehigh Valley Women's 5K Classic, a non-profit organization that promotes fitness among women, supports women with breast and female cancers, and educates women about cancer awareness, prevention, and treatment. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Green Hope Charities and the Community Advisory Board to the Wellness Community. Ms. Conrad is asked to speak on many occasions and delivers encouraging messages of hope, inspiration and courage to live life to its fullest to women, many who are breast cancer patients or survivors. Ms. Conrad will join Wendy Body, Project Manager, Alvin H. Butz, Inc.; Dr. Alice Gast, President, Lehigh University; Dr. Debbie Salas-Lopez, Chief, Division of General Internal Medicine, Lehigh Valley Hospital & Health Network, and Meloney Sallie-Dosunmu, Manager of Organization Effectiveness & Talent Management, Just Born as honorees this year. They will receive their awards during a dinner reception on April 30, 2009.
