Mr. Scott is an associate in the Litigation Department. His practice focuses on the defense of construction defect and accident claims, in which he represents developers, builders, contractors, manufacturers, distributors and suppliers. He also defends products liability, premises liability and breach of warranty claims in addition to handling general litigation matters. Mr. Scott has personally handled more than 500 breach of warranty claims on behalf of a number of automobile manufacturers and he has conducted training seminars for their service and consumer affairs personnel.
Mr. Scott has successfully tried cases before juries in the Pennsylvania Courts of Common Pleas. He has also briefed and argued appeals before the Pennsylvania Superior Court and the Appellate Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey.
Mr. Scott is a 2006 Fellow of the Academy of Advocacy. He serves as an arbitrator in the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County. Since 2004, he has coached the Mock Trial Team at Samuel S. Fels High School in Philadelphia.
Mr. Scott received his J.D. from Temple University School of Law in 1994, where he was on the Moot Court Honor Society and Dean's List. In addition, he was awarded Distinguished Class Performance in ten separate subjects. Mr. Scott received his B.A. in Public Policy Studies from Duke University in 1981.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Scott was employed for eleven years by the largest fabricator/erector of structural steel in the Delaware Valley, where he served as Assistant Director of Operations. His construction litigation practice has been substantially enhanced by his real-world experience in the construction industry.
Mr. Scott is licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is admitted to appear before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey. Mr. Scott is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute Pennsylvania Defense Institute, and the Philadelphia Association of Defense Counsel. He is a frequent contributor to PDI's Counterpoint and is the co-author of its Product Liability Update.
